Terry Weber
MEDIUM /// NEEDLE-FELTING
Terry Weber graduated many years ago with a BA in Art from Saint Mary University, Leavenworth, KS. After a few years of teaching in Denver, Colorado, Terry returned to WNY and embarked on various art media activities, including basketmaking, pottery, all forms of painting, and, for the past 14 years, wet and needle felting. The artwork created by Terry can be viewed at the Bethany Arts and Antiques Shop, located on Route 63 in East Bethany.
Having been captivated by 3D artwork since the pottery days in college, Terry found a creative outlet in wool felt making, satisfying the desire to work with texture and form. The process of creating wool paintings begins with a wet felted background, which is then embellished with needle-felting to shape and accentuate the design. Top stitching is added for further detail, while color blending is achieved using hand-held carders and a variety of colors to create a palette of subtle shades. Vibrant bursts of pure color are strategically placed to draw attention to the focal point of each painting.
In addition to Terry's passion for Painting with wool, visitors to the shop can witness the creation of soft sculpture needle-felted critters. Terry specializes in crafting a menagerie of bunnies, ponies, birds, gnomes, and more recently, Trees! Terry invites everyone to enjoy the showcase of artwork and encourages them to visit the shop, conveniently located just 18 miles west of Geneseo. The shop offers a wide selection of antiques and gifts.
